Hi, I’m Maximillian. I’m a branding and marketing director at MXI MEDIA, my consulting firm. First thing I want you to do is visualize what you want, your big goals and ideal situation, in your mind’s eye. Say this out loud, “I’m grateful to have these things. I’m happy to work for my dreams and to achieve them. I can have anything I want with the right strategy and effort.”

Now that we’ve done a bit of manifesting and affirming, let’s get to work. And if at any point you have a question or you need more information, post a comment under this blog and we’ll discuss it. I’m planning to post weekly here on my blog. I’d love for you to be my partner in crime, suggesting topics and driving discussions.

This week’s lessons

Closed mouths don’t get fed

Marketing is an act of self-promotion, whether you’re promoting your company or yourself as a personal brand. The messages you put out on social media inform your peers, your network and your customers about you, your values and your mission. No one will promote you the way you will.

So always be sure the content you publish reflects your best self, even when you’re being vulnerable and opening up about your flaws. And even is business is going well this season, don’t let up on your marketing. Keep up the output to keep your pipeline full, in case business starts to slow down next season. Business can be unpredictable, especially in the first three years.

Stand out from the crowd

In today’s mass-marketing complex, people like us are bombarded with commercials and ads pushing us to “BUY NOW” and “CLICK HERE!”

Fair enough, they have a business to run and promotion is key to that effort. Now, when you plan your own marketing efforts, consider how you can be most effective at standing out from all that noise.

Based on my own research and experience, the formula for effective marketing on social media is 80% giving value and 20% asking for reciprocity or compensation.

The 80/20 Rule

When your ideal customers think of you, do they think, “they’re always trying to sell me something…” or “they’re always gifting me valuable information!” You want the second scenario.

Toward that goal, your social media feed should feature 80% value-add, in which you provide specific, useful information to your target audience. Teach them something new, alert them to exciting opportunities, entertain them, inspire and encourage them to grow and reassure them that they are on the right path.

Generosity begets reciprocity

This will strengthen their personal and emotional connection with you and your brand. Give, give, give, give… so then when you have an ask, like a sale or a promotion, they’ll be open and receptive to oblige.

In fact, if you do it right, they’ll be so grateful for your 80% generosity, they’ll feel indebted to you and will be happy and excited to finally return the favor when you ask for 20% back.

So what are we doing?

Now that you have a system to properly promote, what is it that you’re promoting? What are you asking your ideal customer to do? And how likely are they to follow through with the offer?

You can increase the likelihood that your reach (the number of people who see your marketing messages) meets your conversions (the number of people who follow through with your ask.) Here are four tips to increase your conversion rate.

4 Tips to increase your conversion rate

  1. Emphasize the benefits and guarantees of your offer, as well as the qualifications of your ideal customer. Whom exactly will benefit most from this offer?

  2. Provide clear and simple directions as to how the customer can follow through with your offer.

  3. Make the process of following your directions as frictionless and convenient as possible. One click, type some information, done. The more steps in the process, the more people will abandon your directions and move on with their day.

  4. Answer all frequently asked questions and objections within the copy of your sales page, in order to reduce the percentage of people who decide against following through to the end.

Thank you for reading!

These are just a few tips to increase the amount of people who actually do what you ask. There’s so much more we can talk about, yet I want to keep this blog relatively brief in order to respect your time.

I sincerely appreciate you reading this far and hope to add more value in next week’s blog. Like I said, if you have a question or need more info, please post a comment below this blog and we’ll talk about it.

And finally, please subscribe to this blog (below), so you receive an email as soon as I post the next one. We have a lot to talk about and we’re just getting started. I cannot wait to hear your success stories after applying these tips, as well the information I’ll share in future blogs.

Peace! and abundant success 🙏🏽
